OUR STORY
Hooray Hotels began with a simple ambition: to create the kind of places we would want to stay in ourselves.
Hooray Hotels was founded by Ray Hoe, a Singaporean entrepreneur who left a career in real estate to pursue a long-held ambition to build and operate independent hotels in Japan.
Our first hotel, Hooray Toyama, brings new life to a 77-year-old former ryokan in the heart of Toyama City. Rather than erase what came before, we have tried to preserve the character of the building while creating a more relaxed and contemporary way to experience a Japanese ryokan.
Hooray Toyama is the beginning. Our aim is to thoughtfully revive distinctive properties in regional Japan and create places worth travelling for.
FOUNDER
Ray Hoe is a Singaporean entrepreneur and the founder of Hooray Hotels. After a career in real estate, he moved to Japan to pursue a long-held ambition of building and operating independent hotels.
His first project is Hooray Toyama, the revival of a 77-year-old ryokan in central Toyama City.
